The event of the Fall of Saigon in April 30, 1975 drove more than a million Vietnamese people out of their country.  These refugees were scattered all over the world.  The majority of them settled in the United States, mostly in California, the sunshine state.  Among that wave of refugees were a number of Vietnamese Evangelical Christians including Rev. Thai Van Le and his family, former leader of the Vietnamese Evangelical Church, Rev. Sy Thien Nguyen and his family, Mr. Tuong Van Nguyen and his family and others came to California.  On Sunday May 5, 1975, Rev. and Mrs. Luong Hau Nguyen, already residing in Studio City, visited Camp Pendleton and met these believers.  They sponsored them and welcomed them home on the same day.

On Sunday May 12, 1975, these believers met at the residence of Rev. & Mrs. Luong Hau Nguyen and worshiped for the first time in America.  The were a total of 31 people including adults and children.  Rev. Thai Van Le preached the Word of God based on the life of Abraham entitled "He went not knowing where he was going to." Abraham obeyed God's Word and at each stop he established an altar to worship the Lord Jehovah.  With that vision Rev. Thai and other believers began to pray and were determined to plant a Vietnamese Evangelical Church in the San Fernando Valley.

The subsequent Sunday worships were held at the Green Bamboo Restaurant at 5239 Lankershim Blvd. in North Hollywood owned by the Rev. and Mrs. Luong (a means for him to continue his study).

On Sunday January 18, 1976, the first conference was convened and the members were formally selected for the first Church Board of elders and deacons.  They consisted of:

After the first church conference, the church membership increased each week.  The restaurant did not have enough space to hold all the church members.  After the encouragement and assistance of Rev. & Mrs. Luong, the Church, relying on the Lord's grace, bought a 2-bedroom house on Weddington street in North Hollywood.  It was remodeled and the first church facility was dedicated on April 18, 1976 - officiated by Rev. Tot Van Truong, the first Vietnamese District Superintendent.

As the church continued to increase in membership, by the beginning of 1980, total church members increased to 180 people.  The church eventually sold the facility on Weddington Street and purchased a more spacious building formerly used as a post office located at 13309 Van Nuys, Pacoima.  After 3 years, the church felt that this location was not convenient and not conducive to church growth and decided to sell the facility.  The next 4 years, the church rented various school facilities and American church facilities to hold worship meetings and other activities.  The facilities are as follows:

• Lutheran High School on Glenoaks in Burbank (2 years)

• St. David Episcopal Cathedral on Magnolia in North Hollywood (1 year)

• Grace Community Church Chapel on Roscoe in Sun Valley (1 year)

At the start of 1988 the church bought a 1/2 acre piece of land on 9936 Beachy Avenue in Arleta and built a church facility with all the amenities needed.  This facility was dedicated on Sept 9, 1989 and was officiated by Rev. Tai Anh Nguyen, Vietnamese District Superintendent.  By mid 1996, the church also bought the adjacent land and converted it into a parking lot.  With gratefulness to the Lord, by Nov 19, 2003 the church completely owned the above mentioned real estate.

Throughout the 29-year history of the church, the following people have served as senior pastors:

• Rev. Chinh Hoang Nguyen (2002 - 2003)
